The World Bank reviews 190 economies in 10 categories for their annual 'Ease of Doing Business' rankings.
In the 'Starting a Business' category the US ranked 55th out of 190 countries. We're behind notable countries such as:
● New Zealand #1
● Canada #3
● Jamaica #6
● Australia #7
● Greece #11
● UK #18
● China #27
● France #37
● Russia #40
● Afghanistan #52
This is our 2nd lowest category ranking. While it's easier to open a business in Canada, the UK and France than it is in the US, it's even tougher to open a business in the other three G7 countries.
● Italy #98
● Japan #106
● Germany #125
The worst performing category for the US?
▸ 'Getting Electricity' #64 out of 190
Yes. Really.
The good news? We still rank #6 overall in 'Ease of Doing Business' globally. (Just imagine if we could start a business and get electricity.)
